Acknowledging the gifts of our ancestors
Aquarius was the star sign of my Father, which he used to christen the houseboat he built. Launched in 1970, the Richmond River at Ballina in NSW has been home her whole life. Along with the endless hours of fun, the Aquarius represents a link to our family past. A gift from the previous generation and a tangible connection to our upbringing.
“We all grow up with the weight of history on us. Our ancestors dwell in the attics of our brains as they do in the spiralling chains of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies”. Shirley Abbott

89 points – Wine Matrix Lighter in style, mid amber in colour, the bouquet is full of toffee, honeyed raisins, fruitcake and caramel. The palate is smooth with toffee, caramel, honey, raisins and dried fruits. There is a good mix of spirit and fruit to balance the lingering palate and the finish is clean. It’s nice and refreshing to see a lighter more European style here.
89 points – Wine Genius Ripe and concentrated, offering mixed nuts, stewed plum and mocha. Glycerol like texture on the palate is well-punctuated with vivid acidity, currants and Asian spice
89 points – Patrick Eckel Allegiance have a broad portfolio which is rounded out by a NV tawny, with the blend Grenache and Shiraz dominant. The wine is a light brown to orange in colour with a nose of orange peel, raisin and sweeter liquor spirit. A medium bodied tawny with caramel notes, supple fruits and spirit based spice that gives a mouth coating finish. An enjoyable tawny in a time where you don’t often see too many.
89 points – Ray Jordan Most appealing youngest style of tawny. It’s more in the liqueur style with tokay-like honey and toffee characters with some appealing spices. Succulent with the dried finish providing balance and length.
