Terroir |
Méditérranée is an IGP title covering wines made in the southeast coast of France, roughly corresponding to the Provence wine region, as well as a part of the Rhône Valley. This wine was sourced solely from Provence in the shallow, schist and silty soils of the foothills of the Massif des Maures on sunny hillside slopes. |
Wine making notes |
Harvested at night with short skin maceration, pressing and thermoregulated fermentation - traditional temperature controlled vinification in stainless steel. Although many bottles are made, focus on quality and terroir has not been lost. Estandon has many different terroirs (soils) in their many fields, and all these fields have been mapped and examined, so you are sure to grow the right grapes on the right terroirs and get an optimal product. All members of the cooperative have also signed a set of quality rules. |
Colour |
Bright light salmon pink |
Nose |
The bouquet is fruity & airy with a touch of red berries & a little spice. |
Palate |
The palate is very fresh, fruity and elegant with an attractive delicious finish. Hints of strawberries, raspberries and other fresh berries. Will suit light dishes all year round and makes a delightful aperitif. |
The Name |
Legend has it that Phoenician ships, carried on a steady sea breeze (“brise maritime”), landed on the Mediterranean coast in the 6th century BC. They brought with them the knowledge of vine growing and wine making. To celebrate the legend, the Estandon winemakers have created this “Brise Maritime” vin de pays and invite you to taste the fruit of their region’s history. Estandon is one of France's largest and most modern cooperatives. With 129 members, including 21 smaller cooperatives, Estandon is one of the leading producers of Rosé wine in Provence. |
Reviews |
95-96 points (4.5 Stars) – Winestate 94 points (5 stars) – Leo Daly, Wine Matrix A light pink salmon colour welcomes you in the glass, followed by a mysterious yet spicy nose. A tight, crisp experience on the palate that reveals fresh red berries with hints of strawberries. A thoroughly enjoyable rosé that delivers the goods on all fronts however when paired with prawns or seafood generally would enhance the experience. 93 points (5 stars) – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit Restrained and delicate, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, fresh fig, citrus peel and subtle flinty notes on the nose. The palate is elegantly weighted and linear with crisp acidity, finishing persistent and zesty. |
